The water has almost boiled off: we can see the lava below. We are rising so quickly that the air above us, cooled by the surrounding rock, is the only thing that keeps us alive. Then our upward movement stops and the rocks shake with a deafening roar. My uncle knows what will happen. The pressure is building. In less than a minute the volcano will explode, with us inside.

We notice another channel that joins ours. This is our last chance to jump off the raft. But what if it's full of lava as well? With no raft beneath us we would die instantly. But if we stay we will probably die anyway. Should we jump? Or should we stay? Or do something else?
